Welltory’s Energy forecast helps you plan your day around the times that may work better for demanding tasks, everyday activities, or rest — no wearable needed. Complete your Daily Check-in each morning, including the HRV measurement, to see how your Energy may change throughout the day. The measurement helps Welltory understand how your body is doing that morning, so your forecast can better reflect your current state.
It uses the sleep information you confirm, your Daily Check-in answers, your usual sleep-wake pattern, and heart rate variability (HRV) measured with your phone camera. You can also add what may have helped or drained you yesterday and look back at patterns from the past few days.
For now, the Energy forecast for people without wearables is available only on Android.
How Welltory can help you manage your energy
Here’s how the pieces work together:
Daily Check-in asks how you slept, how your body feels, how clearly you can think, and what your mood is like that morning. It also includes an HRV measurement.
Your Energy forecast highlights peak windows for demanding tasks and broader windows for everyday activities, lighter work, or rest.
Reflection lets you record what may have helped or drained you yesterday. Over time, these notes and your trends can help you notice personal patterns.
Energy Contributors break down your sleep, morning check-ins, and HRV in a series of charts, making it easier to explore what may be affecting your Energy.
Welltory calculates your Energy forecast after you complete your morning check-in.
How Daily Check-in works
You get one Daily Check-in each day. It takes about three minutes. If you leave before finishing and return later that day, you’ll continue where you stopped. If you return the next day, the check-in starts again.
Your sleep time
Start by checking the suggested sleep start and end times. Move either boundary if it is incorrect, and press and hold on the timeline to add any periods when you were awake. Review your total sleep time, then tap Confirm Sleep Time.
Welltory uses the sleep information you confirm, so correcting it helps make your forecast more relevant to your day.
Your morning signals
Next, Daily Check-in covers Recovery, Health, and Mind:
Recovery: A few questions cover how well you slept and how your body feels. A brief Recovery summary brings those answers together.
Health: Health starts with an HRV measurement using your phone camera. Follow the on-screen instructions for better measurement quality. You’ll then answer one quick question about any symptoms or aches and get your Health summary. The HRV result gives Welltory more context about your current physiological state. If you can’t take the measurement right away, tap Skip this step. Welltory will calculate your forecast based on the remaining information.
Mind: A couple of questions cover how clear your thinking feels and your mood, with a Mind summary at the end.
Your phone camera measures HRV, not Energy itself. Take the measurement while your ideal morning window is still open, as shown by the countdown in the app. This lets Welltory include the result in your Energy forecast. Try to measure before coffee, smoking, a shower, food, or other activities that may affect the result. Follow the finger-placement instructions for your phone model, stay still, and breathe naturally.

If your ideal window has passed, you can still measure your HRV, but the result won’t count toward your baseline.
At the end of Daily Check-in, you’ll see your Energy max, the number of Good Hours, and a short explanation of the result. Tap See my day energy to open the main screen with the detailed Energy forecast.
How to read your Energy forecast
At the top of the forecast, the Energy wave maps out how your Energy may change throughout the day. The current-time marker gives you the value for right now and moves along the wave as the day passes. The wave itself stays the same. Swipe right to look back at the hours that have already passed. You can’t move the marker into the future.
The summary below the graph explains today’s result and offers ideas for planning activity and rest.
Energy max is your highest forecast Energy level for the day. When you’ve slept well and your morning check-in looks good, Energy max can rise above 100%. Your Energy max value can vary from day to day.
Good Hours are peak hours when forecast Energy is 90% or higher. They appear in white and may work well for your most demanding tasks. Some days may have no Good Hours.
Optimal Hours cover a wider stretch of the day and are shown in pink. Every day includes Optimal Hours, which can help you plan everyday activities. The blue parts of the wave show Energy below the Optimal range and may be a useful time for lighter work, breaks, or rest.
Think of the forecast as a guide for planning your day, not a promise that you’ll feel or perform a certain way at a specific time.
If you use the free Welltory version, the graph shows your Energy up to the current moment. With Premium, you can see the rest of the day’s forecast.
In the evening, Sleep Guidance appears below the Energy wave. It shows your estimated sleep need and personalized bedtime and wake-up windows. These windows adapt to your usual schedule and accumulated sleep need.
Yesterday’s Reflection
Reflection is where you add context about what happened yesterday. When both yesterday’s and today’s results are available, it compares their Energy max, Good Hours, and Optimal Hours and gives you the overall percentage change. The question changes depending on whether Energy went up, stayed steady, or went down. If there’s no result for yesterday, it focuses on today’s Energy instead.
Under Log what happened, choose any relevant tags or add a note using the keyboard or microphone. Welltory turns your notes into tags, too. If you use the microphone, allow voice input when prompted.
Welltory saves this context with yesterday’s Reflection record in Journal. Over time, these tags may help you spot useful patterns. They won’t change today’s forecast.
Your recent Energy trends
The Energy chart lays out your recent days side by side. Each bar represents one day’s Energy, while the numbers below give you the highest, lowest, and average peaks for the displayed period.
Use the chart to review your Energy across recent days. If one day stands out, check the trends and reflections around it for possible clues.
You’ll need Premium to see this chart.
Your Energy Contributors
Energy Score, Sleep Balance, Sleep Schedule, Today’s HRV, and Morning Check-in Trends let you look at your sleep, check-in answers, and HRV data and can help you explore what may be shaping your Energy.
All these charts are part of Premium.
Energy Score
Energy Score brings together your latest Recovery, Health, and Mind results from Daily Check-in. The dots let you track them across days and compare your values at a glance.
Sleep Balance
Sleep Balance compares the sleep you’ve been getting with your estimated sleep need. Time asleep is your confirmed sleep period minus any awake time added. Sleep need also takes recent sleep debt into account.
Sleep Schedule
Sleep Schedule puts your actual sleep times next to your optimal bedtime and wake-up windows, so you can keep an eye on how steady your routine has been.
Today’s HRV
Today’s HRV compares your results with the baseline in the chart. It uses every high-quality measurement, not just the one from Daily Check-in, to chart how your HRV changes over several days.
The graph starts filling as soon as you have at least one measurement. At first, Welltory will use a population reference for comparison. As you take more measurements, the baseline gradually adapts to your own data. Open an individual measurement in Journal for the full details.
A single HRV measurement is a snapshot of your physiological state at that moment. One result, whether higher or lower, isn’t enough to tell if you’re ill, fully recovered, emotionally stressed, or ready for a particular activity.
Morning Check-in Trends
Morning Check-in Trends pull together your past answers about how refreshing your sleep felt, how your body felt, any symptoms or aches, how clearly you could think, and your mood. Compare the days to see whether any changes line up with your other Energy Contributors.
More Energy Markers
Additional energy markers offer a wider look at your health and activity patterns over the past week:
Resting Heart Rate charts your latest values from morning measurements. Focus on the overall pattern rather than one value on its own.
Steps gives you a daily step total.
Walking Speed tracks your latest range or trend when this data is available.
These charts show up to seven recent days. When you’re just getting started, you may see fewer days while your history builds.
Your Check-ins and Reflections in Journal
Journal keeps a timeline of your Daily Check-ins, Reflections, HRV measurements, and other events.
Your Daily Check-in appears as a group of Sleep, Body, Ache, Mind, and Mood markers.
Your Reflection is saved under the previous day as a card with an Energy wave.
Each HRV measurement gets its own entry, which you can open for more detailed results.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a wearable?
No. All you need is your phone camera and the information you add during Daily Check-in. For now, this setup works on Android only.
Why do I have Optimal Hours but no Good Hours?
Optimal Hours show the broader favorable range and are always available. Good Hours appear only when your Energy forecast reaches 90% or higher, so you may not have them every day.
Why can my Energy be higher than 100%?
100% is not a hard maximum or a score you should expect every day. A value above 100% means your sleep and morning check-in results came together especially well, giving you a stronger forecast than on a typical good day.
Does the Energy wave update during the day?
No. Welltory calculates the wave after your morning check-in, and its shape stays the same. The current-time marker moves along it as the day progresses. You can swipe right to check the hours that have already passed, but you can’t move the marker into the future.
What if my ideal measurement window has passed?
You can still take an HRV measurement, but it won’t count toward your HRV baseline.
Why do some charts need more data?
Charts fill in as you use Welltory. At first, you may see fewer days or a more general reference range.
How can I improve camera measurement accuracy?
Stay still, cover the camera as shown, and avoid measuring immediately after activities that can affect your heart rate. See how to take accurate HRV measurements for complete guidance.
Does adding a Reflection change today’s forecast?
No. Your Reflection adds context for the previous day, but does not affect the current forecast.
What happens if I connect a wearable?
If you connect a wearable, Welltory starts using the extra data from your tracker. With that broader picture, Welltory can offer more detailed insights.
