My patterns show what's been affecting your stress and recovery — based on what you note about your daily life.
Welltory detects when your body goes through stress or recovery episodes throughout the day — periods where your heart rate and physiological signals show a clear pattern. But it doesn't know what caused them. My patterns are where that context lives: when you tell Welltory what was happening during an episode, those notes are stored as tags and collected here. Over time, patterns emerge — what consistently stresses you out, what reliably helps you recover, and which factors deserve more attention.
How tags get into My patterns
When Welltory detects a stress or rest episode on your Today screen, it asks you what was happening — "What happened?" or "What helped you rest?" You can answer by voice or by typing, or tap one of the suggested tags shown on the card. Welltory reads your answer and automatically extracts the relevant tags: things like anxiety, deadline, coffee, walk, or argument.
A tag looks like a short label: one word or a short phrase. You don't choose from a fixed list — you describe what happened in your own words, and the system figures out the tags. If it misses something or gets it wrong, you can correct it before saving.
Tags only count from episodes — not from standalone journal entries without an episode attached.
My patterns widget on Today
The My patterns widget on your Today screen shows how many stress and rest events you've added in total and the balance between them.
The ring is divided into two parts: orange for stress episodes and blue for recovery episodes. The number in the center is your total count of tags.
What's inside My patterns
Stress and recovery breakdown
The ring at the top shows the overall split between your stress and recovery episodes. The more balanced it is, the better you're managing to offset stress with recovery. Below the ring, you'll see how this month compares to last month — whether you're tagging more stress or more recovery events.
Your most consistent way to unwind
The tags that appear most often in your recovery episodes. These are the things that reliably help your body rest: a walk, sleep, or a certain activity. Seeing them clearly makes it easier to do more of what actually works.
Major stress-causing events
The tags that appear most often in your stress episodes. Some of these you can control, others you can't — but knowing what they are is the first step to doing something about them.
Worth paying attention to
Tags marked as signals that carry more weight than their frequency suggests — rare events that your body responds to strongly. If something shows up here, it's worth noticing even if it hasn't happened often.
Stress & recovery timeline
A timeline view of your stress and recovery episodes over time. It shows when stress tends to build up and when your body gets a chance to recover.

List of episodes — every time this tag appeared, with date and duration.
Insights from My patterns
As your My patterns fills up, Welltory starts generating insights based on your patterns. These appear as cards in your Today feed — no more than one My patterns insight at a time, mixed in with your other daily insights.
Insights require sufficient data to be reliable — typically at least 7 occurrences of a tag in the current month, along with some history from the previous month for comparison.
Who can see My patterns
My patterns are available to everyone who has access to insights and subjective input. Some sections — like the month-to-month comparison and full tag details — require a paid plan.
FAQ
What is a stress episode or rest episode? A stress episode is a period where Welltory detects elevated heart rate and physiological stress signals while you're not moving — a sign your body is under tension. A rest episode is a period where your body is actively recovering. Welltory detects these automatically from your heart rate data throughout the day.
How do I add tags? When Welltory detects a stress or rest episode, a question appears on your Today screen: "What happened?" or "What helped you rest?" You can tap one of the suggested tags, or answer in your own words by voice or text — Welltory will extract the relevant tags from what you say or write.
Why are my patterns empty? My patterns fill up as you answer questions about your stress and rest episodes. If you haven't noted any episodes yet, look for the question card that appears on your Today screen during or after a stress episode.
How many tags do I need before I see patterns? Patterns start to become visible around 7 tagged events. The more you note, the clearer and more reliable the picture gets.
Can I delete a tag from My patterns? Tags are removed automatically if you delete the episode they came from in your Journal.
Why does the ring only show stress and recovery — what about sleep and activity? My patterns focus on the context you provide — what was happening during your stress and rest episodes. Sleep and activity have their own dedicated reports on the Today screen.
I answered a question, but I don't see any tags. What happened? The system may not have recognized specific tags in your answer. Try being more specific — instead of "it was a hard day," say "work deadline" or "argument with a colleague." You can also tap the suggested tags shown on the card, or try rephrasing your answer — the system will re-extract tags from what you say.
