Can I track something IFTTT doesn’t have a data source for? Like cigarettes smoked or articles read, for example?

Yes, just use the button widget! It lets you push a button every time the event happens so you can track your number of pushes on a Welltory chart.

Suppose you want to track how many articles you read on a chart.

Here’s how to do it with the button widget:

1. Make sure you have the IFTTT app installed on your phone and you’re logged into your account

2. In the IFTTT app, go to My Applets and hit the + sign in the top right corner to create a new Applet

3. Tap “this

4. Select Button widget and choose the Button press trigger

5. Tap “that,” select Welltory, and choose Send event

6. Fill in the info for the event you’re tracking. Here’s what it should look like for any event you’re tracking with the button widget:

  • What are you tracking? — select Other

  • When are you tracking it? — tap Add Ingredient and select Occurred At

  • From which service? — select Other.

  • How many entries per event? — Enter 1

  • Tap Create action and name your new applet — Articles read for example, and tap Finish

Here’s how to do next if you’re using iOS:

  1. Go back to the home screen on your phone, swipe left, and scroll down through your list  of widgets.

  2. Tap Edit, add IFTTT to your widget list, and tap Done — this will put IFTTT on your widget list.

  3. You should see the button for the applet you’ve created in your IFTTT widget. If you don’t, tap the + sign in your IFTTT widgets and select your applet to add it.

  4. Tap this button every time you read an article, and it will send the info to your Welltory chart.

Here’s how to do next if you’re using Android:

  1. Go back to the home screen on your phone, long tap on the screen, select widgets, and find IFTTT on the list

  2. Tap Edit, add IFTTT to your widget list, and tap Done — this will put IFTTT on your widget list

  3. Tap on IFTTT and select the applet you’ve just created to create a button on your screen

  4. Tap this button every time you read an article, and it will send the info to your Welltory chart.
